 Feels like a short day after yesterdays altitude meters. We went shopping almonds in the morning and started a short bike tour with 80km and 500AM around lunchtime. That's it! See you tomorrow.

July 23rd: Fantastic News: we arrived at the Nordkapp after 80 km , 1400 HM at around 12pm. It was the toughest day of our journey as it was only 9°C, headwind plus raining. Performance statistics from Professor Beierke (Alois in brackets):   Gibraltar to the North Cape:        5.446,4 km ( 2.236 km)      37.853 HM (altitude), (14.160 HM) Believe it or not but we did every day in average 133 km (55 km) with 923 HM (354 HM). The Professor confirmed the data!! Statistic from this year cycle tour: Enschede - Nordkapp:      2.912,4 km (1.211 km)     16.506 HM  (6300 HM) Norway (10th country): 290 km and 2948 HM (altitude up) Backstage Information : Norway has a population of 5.6 million people. Travel Home

First thing we recognized is that the sun is actually setting. It gets dark by 11pm. For more than a week this was not the case.  We drove about 900 km back through Norway and Finland reaching Sweden. Now we are using the 3rd time the 'First Camping Nydala' , now in Umeå. Good standard and enough space. We came here at 7:30pm after driving for 13 hours. Still more than 1900 km to drive to reach Edewecht. Will start again tomorrow morning at 6:15am. Coast of the Arctic Sea

Special News: 80 km to go tomorrow with 1200HM and at 8-10°C. We expect to be at the Nordkapp by midday. Backstage Information :  This morning Alois mentioned that mentally we need to switch back after now being 23 days on our journey: from barefood or sandals, from bare upper body, from shorts or shortly from camping to normal. Not sure how good this works out... Starting point (A): Fjordutsikten Camping, Lakselv Ending point (B): North Cape Accomondation, Repvåg First, the mosquito paine seems to be behind us. We startet today at 14°C and temperature did not change much during the day. Wonderful sceneries today by following the coastline of the Arctic Sea from Lakselv to Strada. Wonderful cycle tour with going up and down, whale watching and some touristic shops. See you tomorrow!! Good Night!!
