Sunny Sweden

Special News: we passed the 1000 km yesterday. I did update the blog from yesterday and you may want to go back to check it out.

When we made our first stop we met a bike rider from Denmark who was riding alone with a total travel weight of 150 kg. For this time he was planning to go around the Baltic Sea - for about 2 months. Overnight he is using available shelter or people offering him a place to sleep. He had a very small tent which wasent't really water resistant. He said that is a mess. Compared to his comfort our  I trip is more first class. Impressive that he does 100 km a day from 4 am in the morning to 5:30 pm in the evening. See the photos - impressive person!

Starting point (A): First Camp, Linköping

Ending point (B): Horns Skärgårdscamping, Nyköping

Today the weather was authem again with temperature growing from 9oC when we started at 6:30 am and 21oC when we arrived around 1:30 pm.

We did today 125 km with 850 HM. Alois did a  70 km tour around Nyköping. We met in Nyköbing today and visited a nice cafe and salad bar. See the photos from Nyköbing with wonderful flowers!

Had great dinner today again with salads, vegetables and salmon (Alois hasn't fished yet).

    Buenas tardes. Estoy dando con los dientes en el suelo, de la envidia que me estáis dando. Un buen equipo de amigos. Buenos medios logísticos y muy bien preparados. Así da gusto salir de ruta.
    Gracias por hacerme participe de vuestra experiencia.
    Una cosa que he visto, es que no se seca la ropa y los zapatos. En algunos camping tiene lavadoras y secadoras y los zapatos mojados, si los llenas de papel apretado, absorbe la humedad y resulta más cómodo. Lo aprendí en el camino de Santiago.
    Espero que sigáis disfrutando del viaje.

    Espero que estés bien.
    Miraste las fotos con atención y, sí, los zapatos estaban mojados. La próxima vez probaremos tu truco.
    Gracias por el consejo.
    Todavía nos quedan 1284 km hasta el Cabo Norte. Quizás podamos llegar en 10 días. Hace buen tiempo: 28 grados Celsius, 19 grados Celsius por la mañana.

Training for 2 - for 2025 Tour

 Stefan and I had a rainy training for 6 days on Mallorca. With total of 520km and 7000 AM we basically met the biking work from last year - except: we got totally wet on 4 training days of 6!! Germany has fantastic weather these weeks and we fly to this beautiful island for getting wet. At least we trained for consecutive 6 days and still have a lot of training to do for the next 6 weeks before we start our second part of our tour. We look forward for this tour!!!

Nordkapp

Fantastic News: we arrived at the Nordkapp after 80 km , 1400 HM at around 12pm. It was the toughest day of our journey as it was only 9°C, headwind plus raining. Performance statistics from Professor Beierke (Alois in brackets):   Gibraltar to the North Cape:        5.446,4 km ( 2.236 km)      37.853 HM (altitude), (14.160 HM) Believe it or not but we did every day in average 133 km (55 km) with 923 HM (354 HM). The Professor confirmed the data!! Statistic from this year cycle tour: Enschede - Nordkapp:      2.912,4 km (1.211 km)     16.506 HM  (6300 HM) Norway (10th country): 290 km and 2948 HM (altitude up) Backstage Information : Norway has a population of 5.6 million people. Peace

  After a good breakfast we were heading towards Enschede, the place we had to finish our tour last year. The distance was 170km from Edewecht to Enschede. To make peace with this town, we had to meet at the polder to start our tour to the Northkap this year. Done. Start of our tour was 12:30pm and we did 75km today. At 30oC it was a smooth and warm ride with no event or break. Alois went ahead with Frank and reserved a nice camping site place at the sea in Haselünne. Had a relaxed evening with great shower, good barbecue with salad and walk to the Haselünner sea. See you tomorrow!
