Madrid

 We had nice weather today (April, 30th) with sunshine and about 25oC. After 140km and around 1400 altitude meters we arrived at Guadalajara at 5pm. 

We had a genius idea to save some altitude meters using Google maps for bikes instead of Komoot. Pretty soon we figured out that this was a great mistake. Streets were unpaved and hard to ride. Especially dangerous and high risk for Stefan with his high quality and very expensive racing bike. Even with our Gravel bikes the speed was low and needed our full attention. We stopped this exercise after 20km and returned to our Komoot route. Never again we will use Google maps on our tour...

One more short comment - we saw several wind turbines. It seems that Spain is ahead of Bavaria in using these efficient way to generate power.

Last but not least - after a good dinner we went to a sports bar to watch the football match Bayern Munich against Real Madrid. Interesting to see so many enthusiastic fans cheering for the wrong team. The match ended 2:2 ...

One last comment and very important comment we have to make- all car and truck drivers are extremely careful when passing us. This is really extraordinary and has our full respect. We had already a different expierence in Italy and also Germany. All people we met here were very very friendly. We ❤️ to drive here.

    Wünsche euch eine gute zweite Hälfte durch Spanien. Und das liest sich ja gut, dass die Auto- und LKW Fahrer auf die Radfahrer dort Rücksicht nehmen.

  This cycle path bollard finished our Gibraltar-Nordkap tour after 18 days and 2534km (47%) and 19,519 Altitude Meter (53%). Klaus touched this bollard with his handlebar and fell down to the street. I followed him closely and tried to avoid hitting him. The street curb finished my trial and touchdown was unavoidable. I hit the street with my helmet and right Clavicular (Schlüsselbein..). I can tell that Klaus and my helmet were broken, but our heads were both ok. Think about wearing your helmet always you ride a bike. It can save your life!! Medicus Klaus came pretty fast to the conclusion that my Clavicular was broken.  End of this story:  Ambulance came, brought me and Klaus to the Hospital (300m away) - after 3 hours we left the Hospital because no doctor was coming, drove to Edewecht and our house where Beate was waiting (now around midnight), took shower and went to bed. Malaga

 It is already midnight and everybody else already went to sleep. Was a great day driving through Spain, crossing Barcelona, Valencia, Murcia, Granada and Malaga. We expirienced a great nature with never ending pistachio trees and yellow broom (Ginster). Alois used his ADAC knowledge and selected an excellent Camping Site close to Malaga and the Mediterranien Sea. Parking of an American size Campingcar on a spanish camping slot is a challenge without destroying the whole infrastructures like lanternes... Evening dinner was great, followed by a shower and last usage of Franks hydraulic to level out the car - fantastic feature!! We look forward for driving to the english landmark called Gibraltar.  See you tomorrow.

Bluebonnet

 We arrived in Cuidat Real this evening around 7pm. It was a long day with about 165km and again above 2000 altitude meters. Clearly we need to reduce the hours we sit on the bikes. Alois started with us for the first 35km and returned after to pick up Frank. He is doing very great and contributes always special photos. Stefan and I had the feeling to be on our MS150 tour from Houston to Austin today. Nice roads with soft up and down, straight 10  km long streets like in Texas or California - including fields of fantastic looking  bluebonnets right and left ( color is close but the flower is different...). We took a Hotel tonight as we needed a very long shower! Downtown was not impressive but food was good. See you tomorrow!
